Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can we bring our pet?
A. Yes, your dog or cat is welcome but please remove the animal hair before you leave. Thanks
Q. Can we smoke in the cottage?
A. No, we prefer that you ask smokers to smoke outside. We are very allergic to cigarette smoke and it is hard to get the smell out of the cottage
Q. Will linens/towels be provided?
A. Yes, we provide all bedding, pillows, linens and towels. We ask that you launder them before you leave.
Q. Will we need to bring dishes and cutlery?
A. No we provide everything you need in the kitchen except consumables. Bring your own paper towel, dishwasher detergent etc.
Q. Is the water safe to drink?
A. We filter the water to remove sand and improve the taste. We also provide a water cooler for your convenience.
Q. Is the lake water nice to swim in?
A. Yes, our cottage is on the deepest part of the lake so it isn’t weedy and it is wonderful to swim in.
Q. Is there a shallow area for young children?
A. No, there is no shallow area but there are public beaches nearby on the lake
Q. Is the water deep enough to dive in off the dock?
A. Yes, you can dive in off both docks as well as the swimming dock
Q. Should we bring our food up with us or buy it up there?
A. We have three supermarkets in Parry Sound and Sobey’s is open 24 hours in the summer months. We recommend you shop for food when you arrive. There is also a convenience store in McKellar, which is only a 5 minute drive (or boat) away.
Q. What are the best restaurants?
A. There is a Relais and Chateau Tennis and Golf Resort and Spa on the Lake (Inn at Manitou) which has fine dining. You can also boat from the cottage to the south end of the lake where here is a lovely little bar, restaurant and patio that sells ice cream as well. In Parry Sound, which is only a fifteen minute drive away, there are many restaurants to choose from. We like The Bay St. Café overlooking the Parry Sound dock, and Trappers.
